Meaning and Purpose

I have been thinking that I should blog about my thoughts for quite a while now. After watching a couple episodes of Joseph Campbell: Mythos I, it seemed like a good time to start. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who has an interest in Jungian psychology and how it relates to different world religions and mythos. I'm sure I'll be writing more about this series and my thoughts on it at a later time, but I figure first I should convey the purpose of this blog and the meaning of its title.

Infinite Centers refers to an often repeated idea that "The nature of God is an infinite sphere of which the center is everywhere and the circumference is nowhere." This quote comes from Epidocles, but has many other versions written in many places. This idea makes my brain explode, thinking about the possibility that God is literally permeating everything that exists, from the tiniest string on the tiniest quark of a single Hydrogen atom, to the entirety of existence. Actually, more than that, as God is also non-existent potential. Also the carbon atom, the flesh cell, the eyeball, the nervous system, our bodies, our consciousnesses, the collective of each and all. It is pretty mind-blowing to think of all that encompasses and could mean. Everything is the center of God. This has come to be the basis of my own changing personal beliefs. It is this idea of connection and spiritual saturation that leads me to learn more about the human experience and how it all fits together.

To those who might enjoy reading these ideas, I ask you to share your thoughts, as we can only grow in our connection to each other. Those who might not are fine too. After all, infinity can only truly exist with an infinity of experiences and perspectives. That's part of the beauty in it.

I might note as well that I don't prescribe or follow any single religion, although I find them all quite interesting and lovely. Given, there have been many unfortunate acts that have been carried out in the name of certain religions (and there are many here), I find there to be truth and beauty in all the ideologies and myths (with of course some exceptions to the rule.) When I refer to "God", I do not mean any specific God (i.e. the Western God "Jehovah" or "Yahweh".) Feel free, however to paint the idea however you wish. God has infinite forms, but each one serves the same purpose; to connect the self to the infinite.

I hope to learn, to grow, and to connect with others through this process. I hope to reach others who desire to do the same. To view ourselves and everything that exists as divine sparks in an infinite flame.
